今日、フロントエンドエンジニアである平原さんと、フィリップ・パレーノの素晴らしい展覧会「オブジェが語り始めると」に行ってきました。

Today we’re going to have a discussion with our front end engineer- Hirahara Natsumi who went to an amazing Philippe Parreno’s art exhibition “A Manisfesto of Objects. She has found many interestingthings in this event and would like to share these experiences with everyone. Let’s dive in to the discussion and see what Miss Hirahara has discovered!

平原さん、アートイベントに行くと聞いて驚きました！どうやってこのイベントを見つけましたか？
Miss Hirahara, it’s really interesting when you told me that you’re going to this art event. How did you find out about the exhibition?
平原
ワタリウム美術館のサイトで見つけました。フランス人アーティストのフィリップ・パレーノのことを以前に聞いたことがあり、彼の作品を実際に見たいと思っていました。
展示会は2019.11.2から2020.03.22までです。
I found this art exhibition on the Wari Museum Website. I’ve heard of the French artist Philippe Parreno before and would really like to see his works in person. The exhibition started from 2019.11.2 until 2020.03.22.

その時、行こうと思ったきっかけは？
What urged you to go to this exhibition?
平原
私はいつも現代アートに興味があって、時間ができたらよく美術館に行きます。その美術館はアッタデザインに近いから、『これは行ける！』と思ってお昼時間に行きました。ワタリウム美術館は外苑前駅の近くにあります。
I’m always interested in modern art and like to visit museums in my free time. Also, the museum is really close to ATTA Design, so I just thought “why not?” The Watari Museum is around Gaienmae Station.
LISA
そうなんですね。どんなアートからいつもインスピレーションを受けますか？
You mentioned you like to visit museums during your free time? What kind of art gives you inspiration?
平原
やっぱり現代アートですね。自由を形にした感じが好きです。あと決まったルールがないのもいいですね。一見シンプルに見える作品でも、そこから見えてくるたくさんのストーリーや感情に触れられることが面白いです。一
番大切なことは、その作品からアーティストと繋がれることです。作品を見ているときはとてもリラックスできるし、ひらめきも生まれます。でも最初は説明から読まないといけないですけどね（笑）。
Definitely modern art! For me, modern art is like a form of freedom. There are notspecific rules in the modern art world. Modern art pieces sometimes might look simple but there are actually a lot of stories, emotions, expressions inside them. Most importantly, it has a special connection with the artists. When I look at modern art pieces, I just feel so relaxed and inspired by all the stories behind it. Well…of course I have to read the description beforehand.

アートイベントでのお気に入りの作品は？
Which part of the art event is your favorite?
平原
んー。。雪だるまですかね。でもひとつだけ残念に感じさせるものがありました。美術館についた時、その雪だるまが溶けていたんです！雫の音が悲しげだった（笑）。多分アーティストが伝えたかったことは、『それも人生だよ』ってことだと思います。
Umm…….I think the iceman haha. However, there’s one thing that really makes me feel unfortunate. When I arrived at the museum, the iceman was melted! I was so surprised that they exhibit a real iceman without any protection? Maybe the artist’s trying to deliver the message of “nature & life?”

アッタデザインのエンジニアとして、どうやって仕事とアートを結びつけますか？
As an engineer in ATTA Design, how do you connect what you do with art?
平原
それはととてもいい質問ですね！私の仕事は大半がコーディングです。
コーディングと聞くと、すごく大変、つまらないと思われがちだけど、実はアートと密接に結びついているんです！まずデザイナーの気持ちを理解することから始まります。デザイナーからウェブサイトのデザインコンセプトを教えてもらいます。
その時に私は彼らのデザインを詳細まで理解する必要があります。理解して初めてコーディングすることができます。
エンジニアにとってもアーティストのような創造的な考え方が必要になります。デザイナーとよく話すことで、私たちは素晴らしいアイディアをクライアントへ提供することができます。
This is a very good question! When speaking of coding, words like DULL, DRY, OVERWORK (it depends haha) might come to most people’s mind.Although my position is engineer and most of my jobs are related to programming, it actually has a connection with art! First, I need to understand designers’ thoughts when any projects are given. Designers give me the design concept of a website first, then I have to understand all the design details so that I can write them into the system. In that case, having an aesthetic way of thinking is very important even for engineers. By communicating with designers, we create mind-bending digital art to our clients.

プログラミングの他に趣味はありますか？
What’s your hobby other than programming?
平原
漫画をよく描いていましたね。
I used to draw Manga actually haha
LISA
本当に？それはすごいですね。
Really? That is very unpredictable.
平原
有難うございます。今でも趣味で描いています。暗い漫画を描くのが好きなので、暗いテイストのデザインなら、もしかしたらできるかもしれないです。
Thank you, it’s one of my hobbies actually and I only put my works on personal platforms I like to draw dark comics. If you have a sense of humor, sarcasm, or dark taste, you might be able to do it, too! Haha
